Barcelona

First stop on our journey through Europe, Barcelona! After spending a week in freezing cold London were glad we made the choice to spend a long weekend here with clear skies and temperatures hovering between 18-20, which felt tropical in comparison!

Not too much research was done before we came here but one thing I knew I wanted to see wasn’t a place or an Instagram hotspot...it was Lionel Messi! Lucky for us there was a Copa Del Rey match that night against Leganes and no doubt Messi put on a show! Scoring 2 goals in the 5-0 demolishing by Barcelona.

Despite visiting the city towards the end of winter, weather and conditions were excellent for lots of bike riding up and down the beach, through the city and to all the famous Antoni Gaudi artworks and architecture, ranging from private houses to parks and the magnificent Sagrada Familia! Places we visited and highly recommend; Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, Gothic Quarter, Casa Mila and Casa Batlo. We definitely recommend booking a day on the hop on/off bus! It's a nice chilled out way to see the city briefly and even get your bearings right before you start heading into any of the attractions.

The food all week was amazing! Tapas Tapas Tapas! A special shoutout to McDonalds which was actually super impressive selling a lot of vegetarian and gluten-free options! Definitely try it out! While I'm in Europe I might have to start a review system for Maccas, what do you think?!

Lastly, we made our way out of the city and visited Montserrat, a small catholic town on top of a mountain and another small city called Girona. For those Game of throne fans, Girona is where parts of season 6 was filmed!
