May 2020
Lockdown has started to ease and we’re allowed to go outside without having to be doing essential shopping or our 1 daily exercise. Only a 20 minute bike ride away we’ve made a few trips this month to explore the amazing 10,000 acre, Richmond Park (biggest park in solely in London). Well into spring the park is super green, with flowers out and deer wandering everywhere! It’s like the English equivalent of seeing kangaroos back home in Oz! Funnily enough, the deer made their way to Richmond Park due to a plague in 1625 where King Charles turned Richmond Park into his own little playground, to hunt for deer. Now it’s an awesome park with a heap of walking trails, cycling routes around the outer edge of the park, a golf course, historic buildings and acres of green space. Despite the pandemic not allowing us to do overseas travel and road trips through the UK we are very much enjoying exploring the local area. I never would have imagined something like Richmond Park ever existed in London! South West London seems to have it all!
