Santorini is an island like no other island we have been to before, with its rugged landscape, volcanic features, and whitewashed cliff-top buildings overlooking the Aegean Sea - it really is a next-level romantic getaway. The magical moments on the cliffside villages by day and night are scenes worth paying for, and waking up early to avoid the crowds! Even though we were here in the middle of the pandemic it still seemed reasonably busy and we couldn't imagine it during a normal summer season when there are thousands more packed onto the small ledges to watch the sunset each evening.

In the sweltering Greek heat, we spent our time here by hiking from Oia to Thira, jumping on a volcanic island boat tour, and exploring the island with our dodgy dusted-up rental car from the port. The island, like Mykonos, is definitely one that sleeps during the day slowly waking up towards the afternoon and at its peak (sunset) where hundreds come out of hiding from their air-conditioned cliff-side and private villas.
